Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need prior experience to enroll?
No. The IPC J-STD track is built for first time students, while IPC 610 and 620 courses are suited to technicians who already have hands on soldering or inspection experience.
What is the difference between J-STD, IPC 610, and IPC 620?
IPC J-STD covers hand soldering fundamentals, IPC 610 covers acceptability of electronic assemblies (PCB inspection), and IPC 620 covers cable and wire harness assemblies. Many students start with J-STD and add 610 or 620 as their role requires.
How long does a certification last?
IPC certifications are valid for two years. Recertification classes are shorter than the initial course and are offered on a regular schedule — check the class calendar for upcoming dates.
Are classes available remotely?
Select courses are offered remotely in addition to in person at our Aurora, Colorado facility. Each course page lists its available delivery format.
How do I pay for a class?
